Eaton is a closed campus for the security of our students and staff.  Students may not leave the school campus during school hours.  The parking lot is off limits to students after the first bell of the day.

If you need to pick up your child before the normal dismissal time, you must sign him/her out in the office.  No child will be released without the appropriate office sign-out.  If a parent is not picking up his/her student, the person picking the student up must be listed on the student’s emergency card or the office must receive written or verbal authorization from the parent.

Students are not to arrive at school BEFORE 8:30 a.m.  There is no supervision on campus before this time.  Teachers will pick their students up from the lunch tables (Grs. 1-3) and by the basketball courts in the upper grade wing for grades 4 & 5 when the bell rings. Parents/guardians are expected to pick up their students promptly upon dismissal.  

Please be mindful that we have 4th and 5th grade classes still in session up to 3:20 p.m. Primary students are not to wait for older brothers or sisters unsupervised.  We ask that all parents with lower grade students, please wait at the designated lawns/areas from 2:50 - 3:20 p.m..  Any student who is not picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal, must wait in the office until their parents are contacted.

Before and after school daycare is provided by Catalyst Kids Center for a fee.  You may contact them at (408) 257-3570.

If you wish to have snack or lunch with your child, you can sign him or her out from the front office.  You may not go to the lunch tables and sit with your child and other students.  

Education Code Section 32210 states that all visitors, including parents, volunteers and district employees, must sign in at the office when school is in session.  This policy is to ensure safety and order on campus and to minimize disruption to classroom instruction.  Each visitor must wear a badge at all times during the visit.

Please notify the office immediately of any changes in address, telephone numbers, emergency pick-up contacts, etc.  In the event of an emergency or illness, it is imperative that the school be able to contact you quickly.

We keep parents informed about our programs, special events, and other newsworthy items via our bi-weekly Eaton Eagle Newsletter via ParentSquare,  teachers’ monthly newsletters, and CUSD publications.  Friday is set aside for sending schoolwork and such notices home.  We encourage parents to take time to read their children’s Friday Folders.  Your interest shows your child that you care about what is happening at school.  If you have any questions or comments about the notices that we send home, please feel free to contact the office.

Please notify the office in advance if your child will be leaving Eaton.  This allows the school to prepare placement information for your child’s new school.

Eaton Elementary School and the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) cannot be held responsible for any personal property of students and visitors/volunteers.

Community organizations may request to use our school grounds during daylight hours when school is not in session.

CUSD After-Hours Emergency 408-996-0799

If there is an emergency and a student needs to communicate with his/her parent during school hours, the teacher may send the student to the office to call the parent.  Forgotten homework/books and arranging for after school social events are not emergencies and students will not be allowed to use the school phone for such purposes.

Please note that students will not be allowed to accept any call in class or step out of class to accept a call.  In an emergency, the parent must contact the office and the office staff will locate the student immediately.

California Education Code Section 32210, California Penal Code Section 626.8, and CUSD Policy, Administrative Regulation 330, stipulate that animals (e.g. horses, dogs, cats) are NOT allowed on school grounds, as posted on the metal signs located on the perimeter fence.  Any animal, however, that is necessary under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 will be allowed.
